Getting Back To My Exercise and Nutrition Routine After Portugal & Morocco

I’ve written about resetting after a long vacation earlier this summer, but felt the need to expand on it after coming back from my latest trip to Portugal and Morocco. I was basically gone for two and a half weeks. Just a few days after returning home, I went to Charleston for a long weekend and arrived back to New York and had a lovely British friend spend the week with us. I had an incredible time during all of this, but I’m not super human so something’s were put on the back burner (i.e. my daily exercise routine and regular diet). I tried my best to exercise while I was away, but did not do as nearly as much as I normally would’ve of. I ate a ton of fresh fish and veggies, but the couple of glasses of wine each night didn’t help. The most important take away from this is not to let it get to you. A vacation is to be enjoyed. In times past I would put some guilt on myself for not being more disciplined, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that the guilt is totally unnecessary. Never feel guilty for properly enjoying yourself on vacation!

So, I officially returned to my weekly scheduled program of exercise and proper nutrition last week. I must say it was a bit of a rough start. I didn’t feel as strong or as fast with my fitness routine, but didn’t let it get to me. Never let it get to you. You will bounce back. DON’T GIVE UP! Good news…. I bounced back today! I took a great HIIT class at Equinox and felt I was getting my mojo back. I topped it off with five 30-second sprints on the SKILLMILL treadmill. The SKILLMILL has a curved belt and non-motorized. It’s all you!

Now for nutrition. Dining out is now limited to the weekends and I started a new meal delivery service program for during the week. The meal delivery service is called Deliciously Fit. Each meal is made with a lean protein and is weighed and measured with balanced macronutrients. There are vegan options as well for my vegan friends. Getting my nutrition back has resulted in increased energy and I feel I’m back on track!

Remember don’t put to much pressure on yourself. Take resetting step by step and put realistic goals in place. You’ll get there and even come out stronger!
